Husein Alireza is a Saudi Olympic rower and captain of the Saudi national rowing team. He was flag-bearer at the Tokyo2020 Olympic Opening Ceremony where he reached the quarterfinals. Husein has won medals at the national, regional, continental, and international championships throughout his career. Husein's influence extends beyond rowing as he became the first Saudi to be elected to the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) Athletes' Committee, winning the majority of the votes. He is currently a candidate for the IOC Athlete Committee, set to take place at this summer's Paris Olympics. He founded the Saudi Rowing Federation in 2019 which has recently been ranked joint 1st out of 97 federations in the most recent technical assessments. Husein continues to facilitate the growth of rowing in the Kingdom while inspiring future generations of Saudi athletes.
