Karl Alomar is a 20+ year founder/executive veteran who now serves as the Managing Partner of M13, an early-stage venture firm that invests in visionary founders building disruptive software businesses at seed and series A. Karl’s investment strategies are driven by his extensive experiences operating in Fintech, Infrastructure and Developer/Productivity tooling, and focuses on how AI and blockchain technologies are driving innovation in these categories.Karl brings over two decades of executive-level experience building and growing technology businesses and spends his time at M13 across all functions of the business, specifically Investing, overseeing the Propulsion (Platform) operation and running the underlying firm.Karl is most well known for building DigitalOcean, one of the fastest-growing cloud infrastructure companies. As COO of the company, Karl helped build the business from the ground up to $250MM in run rate and prepared for IPO. DigitalOcean went public on the NYSE (DOCN) and peaked in value at $15 billion.Karl was also the Co-founder + CEO for China Export Finance, which grew to $140M in revenue and was acquired in early 2010, and was the Co-founder + CEO for Clearview Networks, which was acquired in 2000.Karl received his MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London.
