Noorihan Deraz is the Strategy and Planning Manager for AlUla Manara at the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), where she contributes to the development of AlUla’s astronomy and dark-sky ecosystem, spanning scientific research, astrotourism, international partnerships, community engagement, and destination development.An architect by background, Noor has also been closely involved in the design journey of AlUla Manara, contributing to the development of the observatory from a strategic, experiential, and programme perspective and helping bridge its architectural vision with its scientific, destination, and community ambitions.Her work focuses on translating AlUla Manara’s scientific and strategic ambitions into initiatives that connect astronomy with people and place. She has contributed to the advancement of AlUla’s internationally recognized dark-sky programme, the development of astronomy and astrotourism experiences, community and capacity-building initiatives, and collaborations with leading national and international scientific institutions.With a multidisciplinary background spanning architecture, environmental design, strategy, and programme development, Noor is particularly interested in how science, technology, and design can come together to create meaningful impact for communities, inspire future generations, and contribute to the development of knowledge-based destinations.
