Dr. Areeb Alowisheq

Dr. Areeb Alowisheq leads Arabic language solutions work within Saudi Arabia's national AI programme and is a co-author of ALLaM, the Kingdom's flagship Arabic-English large language model developed at SDAIA's National Center for AI. She brings more than 20 years across academia, government and industry, having served as Assistant CEO for Research and Development at the National Center for AI and as an AI consultant to SDAIA from 2021. Her academic career spans two decades at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, where she was Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Vice Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences. She holds a bachelor's degree in computer applications from King Saud University and a master's in networking and internet technologies, and is a co-founder and board member of CIAG Information Security. She has published across ACL, EMNLP and ICASSP on Arabic NLP, including the SADA Saudi audio dataset and the AraEval benchmark.
