Ahmed El Hamawy

As the founder and CEO of EquiTie, Ahmed has built a unique bespoke investment firm based in London. He started the company in 2019 and, through bootstrapping, has grown the portfolio to include more than 50 companies.Ahmed brings over ten years of experience in investment banking, entrepreneurship, and venture capital. His tenure as an analyst at KPMGs Deal Advisory team focused on valuations and financial modeling, which led to him becoming the youngest Senior Associate in KPMG MENA. He later joined QNB Capital; the Investment Banking arm of the largest bank in the Middle East and Africa region. As an Investment Banker at QNB Capital, he led transactions across Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, and Strategic Advisory. Some of his most notable transactions include the State of Qatars $12 billion sovereign bond issuance, the largest emerging market bond of 2018, the IPO of a JV owned by the largest state-owned Qatari entity in 2019, and a development project the 974 FIFA 2022 World Cup precinct.Ahmed holds a CFA charter and a degree in Finance from the American University of Sharjah. He also attended Oxford University where he completed his MBA and further developed the concept of EquiTie and during his time there he made sure to build it bootstrapped with a completely remote model before it became the norm.Ahmed is passionate about social equality, veganism, and empowering people with financial literacy, which he believes is one of the biggest problems in todays world. He sees that financial literacy and education about investing are lacking around the world, and it is the main reason why many people miss out on opportunities to grow their wealth and secure their financial future. He is determined to change that through EquiTie by aligning interests between capital managers and capital owners by eliminating classic fund fees.
