Dr. Chuck Yoo serves as Executive Vice President for Research Affairs at Korea University, and his role is to oversee research activities across the entire campus as well as the industry engagement and international collaboration. He is a distinguished professor in the computer science department. He received B.S. from Seoul National University, Korea and Ph. D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. After graduating from Michigan, he moved to work at Sun Microsystems, Mountain View, California USA. At Korea University, he has held various leadership positions including dean of the College of Informatics and the director of the dual degree program of Georgia Tech (USA) and Korea University. Dr. Yoo's research expertise spans AI, Cloud, and blockchain, highlighted by his extensive contributions to global companies like Samsung and to international conferences and committees. He has been fostering the cooperation between university and industry by integrating the university innovations into industry sectors. As part of such efforts, he leads the AI research center established by KT (#1 telecommunication company in Korea) toward sovereign AI. He is also engaged with embedding AI into educational landscape within the university.
