Dr. Emily Stoler is the Principal Scientist in Sustainable Materials at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. Emily has over two decades of experience in sustainable product development and scientific leadership. Prior to joining the Wyss, she served as a Director of Chemistry at Zymergen, where she led a team of chemists and worked in concert with biologists and commercial teams to develop viable product prototypes based on biosynthetically derived starting materials. Previously, as a founding member of the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry (WBI), Emily served as a Director of Materials Science, where she collaborated with clients ranging from start-up companies to Fortune 500 organizations to governmental organizations including DARPA and NASA to develop sustainable products and environmentally responsible process solutions. Now, as co-lead of the Sustainable Futures Initiative, Emily is working to expand the Wyss’ sustainability and clean tech portfolio through the collaboration of biological engineering, AI and green chemistry.
